img:192318}Just after midnight on Wednesday, March 7, at 12:23 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a robbery at the 7‐Eleven convenience store at 575 S.E. 92nd Avenue in the Montavilla neighborhood.

Arriving officers learned that a man with a gun had entered the store and demanded money — and then, after leaving the store, he'd approached a customer in the parking lot, had brandished gun firearm and again demanded money. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim and departed.

As the bandit walked away, witnesses called 9‐1‐1 to describe the suspect and tell which way he had gone.

Based on the suspect description and location updates provided by community members, officers found the suspect at the Taco Bell, at 9350 S.E. Stark Street, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Officers found evidence of the robbery in the possession of the suspect at the time of his arrest.

The man under arrest was identified as 28‐year‐old Brandon T. Phillips, who was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on two counts each of Robbery in the First Degree and Robbery in the Second Degree. Phillips was charged with a Post Prison Violation related to his previous conviction of Robbery in the Second Degree.

Investigators with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Robbery Detail are working on the case, and anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Robbery Detail detectives at 503/823‐0405.
