Two flags for Moreland Presbyterian
Editor,
Moreland Presbyterian Church showed its support for people “of all cultures, nationalities and traditions” by raising two flags outside the church on Bybee Boulevard at the end of the congregation’s 9:30 am service on Sunday, June 15. One flag was a multi-colored Pride flag that includes the words “Every One Is Welcome Here”. The colors included in the Pride flag go back to the origins of our faith tradition, with the sign of the rainbow as a symbol of universal inclusion and equality in love and grace – that was what the church’s governing body, called a Session, said in a message to the congregation. The other flag displayed the word ‘Welcome’ displayed in multiple languages and colors. “This is a way to highlight deep welcome to beloveds of all cultures, nationalities and traditions (especially our indigenous, immigrant and refugee neighbors)”, the Session said, in the same message.

Editor,
I’m probably not the only one to let you know that the hardware store just south of QFC is Ace, not True Value.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Actually, you were the first. An embarrassing error I should have caught myself, in the June article about the painted-street plans for S.E. Claybourne, just west of Milwaukie Avenue…thanks for doing it for me. The Westmoreland hardware store was Ace, then True Value, and now once again is Ace Hardware – which I know well, as a regular customer. That’s one of the most essential stores in Westmoreland!
