- It didn’t take much of sideswipe between this SUV and Tesla to cause the larger vehicle to roll right over. The German Shepherd self-extricated from the Subaru, but was not driving the car at the time.
A Subaru Forester SUV clipped a parked Tesla – and as a result, rolled over onto its roof – in the 4100 block of S. E. Crystal Springs Boulevard, on Wednesday afternoon, September 18.

The reports of this crash caused an ambulance and three Portland Fire & Rescue engines to be dispatched at 4:47 p.m.
But, as Westmoreland Station 20’s Engine Company arrived, its lieutenant radioed to dispatchers that the male driver had self-extricated – along with his passenger, a German Shepherd dog – and both seemed to bed uninjured.
“A bicyclist nearby said the Subaru looked to be driving under the 20 MPH speed limit when it clipped the Tesla, and just rolled over,” a firefighter remarked to THE BEE before he and his crew rolled out to their next incident.

Although the Subaru was likely to be declared a total loss, the Tesla appeared to be remarkably unscathed by the collision. It is unknown if the Tesla might contain some sort of defense circuit which causes aggressive cars bumping it to flip over – or, if the Subaru was simply performing an act of submission, as an apology to the Tesla.
The German Shepherd sat on the parking strip nearby and observed the tableau with evident interest.
