A tow-truck driver swept up glass and metal strewn around the Holgate Boulevard intersection in the mid-evening smashup, prior to hauling off the remaining wrecked car.

9-1-1 callers reporting a two-car crash on Holgate Boulevard sent ambulances and Central Precinct officers to the intersection of S.E. 26th Avenue on Friday evening, July 26th.

There, officers found that a Toyota Prius and a Ford Focus had collided – and both had come to rest in the northwest corner of the intersection, near a coffee stand.

“Due to the severity of the collision, it was first dispatched as an injury accident, bringing emergency medical responders,” a PPB officer confirmed to THE BEE. “The accident looked severe, but – after being medically evaluated – none of those involved in this accident required being taken to a hospital for treatment.”

Because of the late hour and location, there were no witnesses – other than those in the cars themselves, the officer said. Both vehicles appeared to be totaled.

Since there were no injuries, there was no determination of fault, and no citations were issued. “This wreck will be something for their insurance companies to sort out,” the officer commented, as the Toyota was about to be towed away.
