Two Southeast holdups in one night

The first Southeast Portland armed robbery on Saturday night, August 18, took place at 6:22 p.m.

East Precinct officers responded to the report of a robbery at the Lents Market at 9647 S.E. Harold Street. Arriving officers learned that a man had entered, demanded money, while he brandished a handgun. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and other items the suspect ran from the store.

Officers performed an area search, but did not locate anyone matching the suspect’s description.

The suspect was described as a black male, 25 to 30-years-old, 5’6″ to 5’9″ tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds, armed with a handgun.

There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.

Then, at 11:41 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to a parking lot in the 200 block of S.E. 12th Avenue on a report that five people had been robbed at gunpoint.

Officers learned the victims were in the parking lot on the west side of S.E. 12th Avenue when three male suspects approached each of the victims and demanded their belongings, while one of the suspects displayed a gun. During the robbery, one victim was reportedly assaulted by one of the suspects.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and other belongings the suspects ran from the area. Officers searched the area, but did not find anyone that matched any of the suspects’ descriptions.

The suspects are described as black males in their late teens to early 20’s. One suspect was described as six feet tall, and weighing 190 pounds, with short hair. Another of the suspects was described as 6’2″, also weighing 190 pounds, and with short hair. A third suspect was described as six feet tall.

There were no injuries that required any of the victims be transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

This investigation is also ongoing, and at this time there is no additional information available.
