Trying to beat a red light in Woodstock, both drivers lose

A Nissan pickup truck was involved in what was reportedly a red light violation mishap and suffered the consequences. A Toyota in the crash was also damaged, but not as badly. It happened on Woodstock Boulevard at S.E. 46th.

Two vehicles tangled in Woodstock when, witnesses say, they both tried to slip through the intersection of S.E. Woodstock Blvd at 46th Avenue at about 5:30 pm on Friday, July 6th.

A white Toyota was traveling westbound on Woodstock Boulevard; a white Nissan four-door pickup truck was eastbound on the same street — when the traffic signal at S.E. 46th Avenue turned yellow.

“The truck made a quick left turn; and the car kept going,” said George Bohannon, who said he’d been standing outside the Delta Café, waiting to cross the street.

The result wasn’t serious injury — neither of the vehicles’ airbags deployed in the accident. “But, there was a fair amount of shouting and screaming at each other after the accident,” Bohannon reported.

Portland Fire and Rescue paramedics arrived; but victims who originally claimed to be injured in the crash later declined medical assistance or AMR transport to medical facilities.

And by the way, yellow lights are to warn you to stop, not step on the gas. It’s the law. Check it out.
