New stove means more and better Meals On Wheels

The Thelma Skelton Loaves and Fishes Center on Milwaukie Avenue in Brooklyn was given a new stove to replace one only partly working, on Monday, July 2, by the Southeast Portland Rotary Club Foundation.

The stove is used in the preparation of Inner Southeast’s “Meals on Wheels”, which the club has helped to deliver for some four decades.

With the new stove in the background, shown from left, in the accompanying photo, are: Cook Linda Rickerd; Tom Maier, Loaves and Fishes’ Director of Food Service; former Club President Joe Amato, holding the ceremonial $6,150 check; incoming S.E. Rotary President Bill Meyer, a Woodstock attorney; and Colette Livermore, new Loaves and Fishes Center Manager.

After the presentation, everyone stepped aside — to let the cook resume cooking Meals on Wheels.
